GB/T 43081-2023 "Requirements for Dimensions and Optoelectronic Performance of Light Bulbs and Light Sources for Road Vehicles" was released on November 27, 2023 and officially implemented on June 1, 2024. It is an important recommended national standard in the field of road vehicle lighting. This standard completely replaces GB/T 15766.1-2008 "Dimensions and Optoelectronic Performance Requirements for Road Motor Vehicle Light Bulbs" and is equivalent to the international standard IEC 60809:2021.
Scope of application of the new standard:
This standard applies to electric light sources in road vehicle lighting or light signal devices, especially those listed in United Nations Resolution R.E.5 and those subject to other regulations. The standard specifies the technical requirements for interchangeability, including dimensions, optoelectronic performance, and corresponding measurement methods.
It is worth noting that the standard clearly distinguishes three technical routes for light sources: filament lamps (i.e. traditional incandescent bulbs), discharge lamps (i.e. gas discharge lamps), and LED light sources. The terms "light bulb" and "light source" in the standard are synonymous and interchangeable, referring to the three technical products mentioned above.
In addition, the standard also states that IEC 60810 specifies the requirements for the lifespan, torque strength, and resistance to vibration and impact of light sources; IEC 60983 specifies small road motor vehicle light bulbs used for auxiliary purposes that are not covered by regulations. This means that GB/T 43081-2023 mainly focuses on dimensions and optoelectronic performance related to interchangeability, while performance indicators such as lifespan and mechanical strength have separate standard specifications.
